One of the world's largest satellite television providers says it's beaming 14-hundred new jobs in to Christiansburg.

A dying ex-smoker has won 20-million dollars in punitive damages from the nation's two biggest tobacco companies.

A San Francisco jury has ordered Philip Morris and R-J Reynolds to pay ten million each to Leslie Whiteley and her husband.
The same jury awarded the couple nearly two (m) million in compensation last week after finding the companies deceived the public about the dangers of smoking.
Last Monday's verdict was the first in the nation for a smoker who started after 1969, when surgeon general's warnings first appeared on cigarette packages. Doctors say Whiteley will likely die this year from lung cancer.

The relatives today did file a last minute appeal- requesting an expedited schedule for hearing their appeal.
U-S Attorney General Janet Reno has agreed to allow the motion to be heard, as long as it was fast AND the family agreed in writing to turn over Elian to the I-N-S if they lose.
So far the family has not agreed to meet that demand. The justice department says that changes everything.

If you get into the bigger SUVs obviously those vehicles are more expensive. These buyers have more discretionary income, they may
not like spending 55 or 60 bucks to fill the tank but they are still going to drive the way they pretty much did.

SEEING A DROP IN THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE BUYING.
