The Blue Ridge Fire Department got its money back and then some after an employee stole five thousand dollars and paid it back with interest.
Former department treasurer William Dillard admitted yesterday he stole the money over the last ten years.
The judge ordered him to serve 250 hours community service and repay the money.
Not only did Dillard pay back the five thousand dollars, he also donated an extra 25-hundred dollars.
The fire department has since tightened up accounting procedures.

(( Pittsylvania County needs money for its enhanced 911 system, public schools and juvenile detention centers.
