((ON CAM A new study from the national cancer institute suggest the older you are, the less likely you will die of breast cancer.

VT=VO

Sounds straightforward- but there's more to it than meets the eye. The study actually suggests the younger you are- the likely your breast cancer will be more aggressive and faster growing. Breast cancer causes 73% of deaths in women under age 55. Ages 55 to 70 its 30%. Over age 70 the death rate is 12%. It all means if anything, you should be having more, not fewer mammograms the younger you are.

VT=VO

Also today, does estrogen increase your risk of breast cancer. A study in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology suggests it does, but only slightly. In this study, women who took estrogen were more likely to develop breast cancer after menopause than women who did not take estrogen. But once again, the increased risk was small. And when those women who did take estrogen got breast cancer, their tumors were smaller and easier to treat.
ON CAM Now, let's confuse you even more. For years, we've said that estrogen can protect your heart. A study last month, said it does not. And today comes a study that shows women who take estrogen are at a slightly higher risk of blood clots strokes and heart attacks. But only for the first two years that the take it, then the risk drops back down to normal. It all means, there is no one blanket recommendation for all women when it comes to estrogen, the decision needs to be made on a personal basis. And that's a look at today's top health stories. I'm Dr. Dave Hnida for CBS News.))
