A fisherman drowned this evening in Smith Mountain Lake.

The 27 year old man was apparently climbing a pillar under Hales Ford Bridge around 6-30.. when he lost his balance and fell into the 50 degree water.
His friend jumped in after him but was unable to save him and called for help.
Rescuers needed more than an hour to locate the man's body.

The company says the offer was a fair agreement.

Two fugitives captured last week in Wythe County were in court this morning to face a string of charges.

37-year old Dennis Lewis was formally charged with 13 felonies, including kidnapping, carjacking and assault.
His girlfriend, 20-year old Angel Tanner, is charged with the same crimes. She and Lewis are being held without bail in the New River Valley Regional Jail.
The couple surrendered Thursday night at the home of their hostages ... ending a two-day manhunt that started in Tennessee.
Both suspects still have to answer to criminal charges from the federal government and the state of Tennessee.
They're scheduled to be back in court May 17th.

The man shot by Roanoke police officer W.G. Boucher (Boo-shay) four months ago is behind bars tonight, after a long recovery.
Police say Wilbert Wesly Lewis failed to stop for Boucher last December .. after Boucher tried to pull him over for driving without his headlights. A chase ended with the shooting.
Lewis's injuries kept him from being arrested until now.

There will be no trial for a Wytheville man charged with a deadly beating.
The jury trial of 23-year-old Jason Wolfe was called off today in anticipation of a guilty plea tomorrow.
Police arrested Wolfe last summer.
He's charged with beating 24-year-old Michael Alderman to death after finding him in bed with his wife.
