((Currently there are two possible routes under consideration. Both originate in West Virginia and enter the state near Tazewell.
One route runs approximately 100 miles from the state line to the Cloverdale substation east of Roanoke. The other route is roughly 58 miles long and ends near the Jacksons Ferry substation south of Pulaski.
Though the SCC staff found that either route would satisfy the need to improve service reliability in western Virginia, the Jackson's Ferry route would cost 42 million dollars less than the Cloverdale route, is 43 miles shorter and would reduce the environmental impact.
While the SCC staff filing is a victory for A-E-P it is not the final word on this controversy. Supporters and Opponents are expected in Richmond on May first, for a hearing that could bring another two weeks of testimony.

A new head coach and some new faces in the lineup will highlight the 2-thousand season.
The Wrath has it's own following but still must compete with the Salem Avalanche and this year the Roanoke Steam in attracting new fans to the games.

The turkey was NOT hurt and was later released in Rockbridge County.
Authorities decided to capture the bird because it was damaging (Yvonne) Uvon Lawhorne's backdoor and vehicle.
It's mating season and the gobbler was apparently seeing his reflection.
Sometimes he would peck so hard he would leave blood on the car.
