Bond told the crowd there is still a in need for affirmative action -- especially when many of the nations leaders are abandoning the ideals of the civil rights movement.
Bond, who is the chairman of the board of directors of the N-A-A-C-P, says the confederate flag over South Carolina's state house is just another example of the racial divide in this country.
He says the South Carolina legislature needs to make sure that flag comes down.

The governor's office says that will mean 320 new jobs over the next three years, and a 41-million dollar investment.

Sheriff's deputies say people cannot adopt 90 pit bulls that may have been trained to fight -- The dogs are staying in their Franklin County neighborhood.

Sheriff's deputies have charged one of the owners with dogfighting, but they say the pit bulls still have food, shelter, and water.
They say so far, this is not a case of animal cruelty.

Graco Children's Products says the children apparently slid out of the swing because the restraint systems were not used properly or parts were missing.
Seven-million swings were sold from the 1970's until January 1998.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the swings should not be used until parents get the new safety restraints offered by Graco.

A woman who worked as a nurse for six months in a local doctor's office last year has been indicted for practicing without a license.

It's a one-woman practice run by Doctor Joan Resk, an Osteopathic Physician.
She says Jodie King claimed she was an L-P-N when she was hired in February of last year.
King was indicted in Roanoke last week for "unlicensed practice of nursing" and "unlawful use of a medical title."
