Sources say Painter is the suspect in a series of minor fires that were set in a subdivision going up behind his house.

Sources say he checked into a Roanoke hospital over the weekend for personal reasons.
Painter was unavailable and his family had no comment.

He's made legal history.

Terry Williams has been on death row twice as long as any other inmate now on death row.
The U-S Supreme Court ruled today -- for the first time ever -- that Williams' trial lawyers performed so poorly that they may have prejudiced the jury to choose death over a life sentence.

The justices say the jurors should have been told of Williams' mental retardation and childhood abuse.
Williams offered a confession to the murder of his friend, Harris Stone, when arrested for another crime.
Stone's body had to be exhumed to find out if he'd even been murdered.

Ed Martin, the head football coach of George Washington high school in Danville is at Cornell University Medical Center in Ithaca, New York where he is being treated for an unspecified heart problem.
