He was armed with a rifle and handguns.

Robert Winney owns Waterworks -- a utility company serving four lake subdivisions.

The State Corporation Commission says Winney does not fix leaks, lets the tanks run dry, and overcharges customers. He also refused to pay his electric bills, so the entire system was almost shut down.
Yesterday, the S-C-C fined Winney 24-thousand-dollars. Winney's applying to raise his rates, even though the S-C-C has already told him no several times. He hung up when called for a comment.

Pulaski County High School and the Governor's School in Dublin are closed today -- the result of a threat against students and staff that surfaced on the web page yesterday afternoon.

[Melanie] Students describe it as a "Hit List" that threatens harm to at least 100 students and staff members.
Investigators have removed the web page and say they're working with the school board to track down the threat's author.

A third Radford University student has been diagnosed with meningitis.
The 19-year old freshman is in stable condition at a Wise County Hospital. The health department is holding a free vaccination today at Radford University from 8:00 until 6:00 in the Main Lounge of Moffett Hall and the Third Floor Classroom of Muse Hall. It is for all freshman who live in dorms. No appointment is necessary.

Gas prices have dropped slightly in the last month. The Triple-A reports the average price of self-serve unleaded fell about a nickel in Virginia over the last month, to 1-43 a gallon.
