(( LOCATOR: MIAMI
Tensions are still running high in Miami's Little Havana. ((nats))
Demonstrators still stunned by the government's handling of the Elian Gonzalez case ... took to the streets tonight ... setting fires and blocking traffic. This, despite pleas for calm.
((Alex Penelas/Miami-Dade Mayor )) "I call on the people of this community to express themselves peacefully and within the law."
But just who is acting within the law is the question many Cuban-Americans are asking ... after Saturday's surprise predawn raid.
((nat))
Federal agents armed with guns forced their way into the house of Elian's Miami relatives -- and within minutes -- the six-year old was wisked away by a Spanish-speaking agent .... and rushed into a waiting van. The event forever captured in these pictures taken by a photograher the family invited in their home. One shot shows a visibly frightened Elian clutching Donato Dalrymple, one of the fishermen who rescued him last November.
((Sot: Donato Dalrymple/Fisherman)) "They grabbed this boy physically. They hurt him physically and emotionally. They ripped him from my arms."
Elian was helicoptered out of Miami and checked by a doctor before being reunited with his Dad at Andrews Airforce Base. Both father and son all smiles ... after nearly five months apart.
((nats - Elian's cousin crying))
But Elian's devastated Miami relatives are not giving up. They traveled to the D-C area requesting to see the boy. So far, Elian's father has turned them down. Meanwhile, the President is standing by Janet Reno and the action taken.

James Monroe bought the property in 17-93.
He and his wife didn't move into the home until 17-99-- and for the next quarter century, it was their private residence throughout Monroe's political career.
(///// SOT /////)
[SOT 11:47:44]

[RUNS= :20]

Monroe held more major offices than any other President.
And although the Monroe Doctrine was the foundation of America's foreign policy, James Monroe never reached the historic status of neighbor and mentor, Thomas Jefferson.
But it was this proximity of this property to Monticello that prompted Monroe to make it his home.

It looked like Craftsman points leader Mike Wallace would take the checkered flag. Wallace had the lead with six laps to go when he gets caught in Kurt Busch's spin. Wallace drops back to the fourth position.
Dennis Setzer assumes the top spot for the next four and a half laps, but he's followed closely by Andy Houston. When the white flag comes out Houston makes his move and edges out Setzer. Houston gets his second win of the season at the Line X 225. Setzer is second followed by Jack Sprague, Wallace and Rick Crawford.
