Martinsville authorities are looking for suspects in two separate fatal shootings over the weekend.
They are conducting intensive searches for the people responsible for these murders.

Two murders on Easter weekend have authorities and family wondering why. That's true especially for Warren Jackson-- The father of Sidney Jones.

Roanoke City Councilman Jim Trout is dropping out of the race for re-election after undergoing heart surgery last week.

Doctors found and repaired a tear in Trout's aorta.
He was running as an Independent.

Two teenage boys charged with sexually abusing other boys at a Wytheville children's home will be tried as adults.

Jacob Earl Cregger and Jacori Carter -- both 16 -- were staying at the Presbyterian Children's Home for troubled teens.
They're charged with sodomizing two teenage boys there in October.
They're being held in the regional jail in Dublin.

A judge has set a trial date for a woman charged with putting her baby in a microwave oven and turning it on.

Elizabeth (OH-tay) Otte will go on trial this September, a year after the one-month-old baby was found dead in her home.
Otte's lawyers have indicated they plan to use an insanity defense.
She's gone through testing and counseling to determine her state of mind. But the judge has ordered the results kept under seal.

William Lewis McCulley, his wife Cindy Walden McCulley, and their two children Ryan and Meagan, and Cindy's father Ira Walden planned to Celebrate Easter in Moneta with family.
Scott McCulley -- William's younger brother says they were also planning to celebrate his son's first birthday.
McCulley says his brother was supposed arrive Friday afternoon.
But the single engine aircraft disappeared from radar -- and was not found until Saturday afternoon near High Knob about five miles south of Norton.

Authorities are trying to identify a person killed in an accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend.
A vehicle caught fire after running off the road early Sunday morning in Botetourt County.
The victim's body was sent to the medical examiner in Roanoke for an autopsy.

Flying J Travel Plaza was fined more than 27-thousand dollars by the Department of Labor in connection with the gas pump fire.
Employee Ernest Osborne was changing a gas pump filter when the explosion occurred.
The labor department cites Flying J for exposing employees to danger and not training them properly.
Labor department officials say Flying J plans to appeal.

Becky Poindexter was recently named the Virginia State Golf Association's Junior player of the year for all of her accomplishments in 1999. Last year she was junior medalist at the Women's amateur championship, and runner-up at the Virginia Junior girl's championship. She was able to accomplish all of this despite losing her coach, her mentor and her father, Wayne who died last July.
