About 2 million homes on the East Coast lost their ABC signal shortly

of May sweeps, the period when ratings are used to set local advertising
rates. Time Warner is blocking DISNEY'S owned, ABC stations in 11

Nat Sound Pop/ABC TV Show
THE dispute is OVER channel space and compensation. ABC and other
BROADCAST networks have had the right to demand compensation from cable
providers in exchange for their programming since Congress passed the
Cable TV Act in 1992.
Time Warner had originally agreed to Disney's demands for channel
space, but has refused to accept the amount of money Disney is seeking
to close the deal.
The most recent deadline extension passed in March and was designed to
give Disney the authority to withhold its programming from the cable
giant if the issue wasn't settled by 12:01 a.m. today. That deadline
has been enforced, leaving ABC viewers in the dark.
