Ferrum College just wrapped up its annual water quality monitoring program. The water quality decreased slightly and the number of nutrients went up but the report states this is normal for aging lakes. Experts say this year's fecal coliform counts were among the lowest so far. Last summer's drought may have helped reduce bacteria. The Lake Association, game wardens and marinas have also been monitoring boaters to make sure they don't pump sewage into the lake. The reports says the water quality is best at the dam and goes down farther from the dam.
