Students in Henry County are mourning the death of a classmate who was fatally shot over the weekend.

Authorities say it happened at this home.
Yesterday, they charged a 13 year old teen with involuntary manslaughter for fatally shooting 13 year old Brandon Lee Moore.
Investigators say the two were playing with the gun and thought it was unloaded.
Students returned to school at Carver Middle. Flags were at half staff and counselors were on hand.

The eight year old boy found in a swimming pool this weekend accidentally drowned.

An autopsy was performed on Calvin Thomas Murray.
The boy was on a weekend religious retreat with family members at the Church of God State Offices complex in Roanoke County.
Murray had been missing for a couple of hours on Saturday when he was discovered in the swimming pool there.
The little boy was from Virginia Beach.

Ingersoll-Rand has announced it is closing it's plant in Roanoke County.
That means 245 people will be out of work by March of next year.

The company plans to transfer the assembly operations in Roanoke County to the company's worldwide Drilling Solutions headquarters and plant in Garland, Texas. No one from Ingersoll-Rand would go on camera to explain why the company is shutting down but they did release this statement. "The company reached this decision after a thorough analysis which concluded that today's global competitive landscape requires new strategies for achieving the company's long term commitments." But what matters to current employees is finding a new job.

She was the target of a negative ad placed by a group called "Concerned Citizens of the town of Christiansburg" in the News Messenger, a local paper.

A Roanoke judge yesterday sentenced a woman to five years in prison for embezzling more than 158- thousand dollars from two medical supply firms.
Donna Leigh Downs was also ordered to re- pay the money.
Prosecutors say 36- year- old Downs wrote dozens of checks to herself from two prosthetics supply companies between September, 19-97 and July, 19-99.
Downs has prior convictions of taking money from her hockey team employer and a youth baseball league.
