A Martinsville man is dead - the victim of a shooting last night in Martinsville.

Forty-four year old William Brady Newbill was found murdered in front of the Rivermont Apartments.
A 16 year old male is in custody in connection with the shooting.
It is the second murder at the complex this year and that has residents worried.
Apartment manager Bessie Kent is frustrated by the violence.

The motive was apparently robbery.

in this fast food restaurant in Flushing Queens.

Police say two men walked in around 11-oclock last night..just
before closing time. Their motive: an apparent robbery. Asking for the
manager by name...the killers escorted him downstairs to a walK-in
refrigerator.
Miraculously, two of the wounded victims managed to call the police.

The door was locked, they broke the glass and went in and started to
render aide to the two male victims..they were then directd to the
basement.
The victims range in age from 18-44. In all six men, one woman.

Several mobile homes were overturned and some trees were twisted by high winds.

Heavy rain and winds gusting up to 70 miles an hour brought down more trees and power lines there.
More than 100 thousand people are without electricity.

Congressional investigators using fake badges made their way past security at several federal buildings and two airports.

The investigation was done by the General Accounting Office or G-A-O- an investigative arm of Congress.

Salem police arrested 23 year old Kelly Dawn Haupt Cole today.
The indictments allege Cole stole over 75 thousand dollars from the supermarket since last March. She has been released on bond.

A unique tribute to veterans is in Lynchburg this Memorial Day Weekend.

Part of the display is "The Moving Wall", a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington.
This wall is close to the same size as the one in our nation's capital.

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute will be at the G-E athletic field at Odd Fellows Road through Monday.

Roanoke's Mill Mountain has some new residents.

They're Crested Porcupines.
The pair went on display this morning at Mill Mountain Zoo.
The porcupines are brother and sister, and each weighs about thirty pounds.
Those quills can get up to 12 inches long.
They're on loan from the Buffalo Zoo.
