An investigation is underway in Wythe County following a dispute between a landlord and tenant that has left one man dead.

It happened shortly after one yesterday, outside a house just off Reed Creek Drive near Draper.
Authorities say the 65-year-old landlord, James Compton, shot an killed 27-year-old Darren Christopher Womack twice after a brief but violent fight.
Deputies say Compton had been severely beaten in the head and chest.
He was flown to Bristol Regional Medical Center where the hospital will NOT comment on his condition.
Sources say the two men had been involved in an ongoing dispute and the incident followed Compton asking Womack to leave his house.
Deputies are investigating whether Compton will be charged in the shooting.

A former Radford athletic trainer and teacher's aide has been convicted of having sexual contact with two of his students.
43-year-old Cotton Lee Easter was found guilty of carnal knowledge of a child and sexual battery.

Prosecutors say that Easter had several sexual encounters with a 14-year-old boy he helped train at John Dalton Intermediate School.
The encounters occurred both in the boy's apartment and in the school locker room.
Another boy at the school accused Easter of inappropriately touching him.

After 25 years of leadership in Henry County, the chairman of the board of supervisors has passed away.
72 year old Jack Dalton, died of cancer yesterday.
He was diagnosed with the illness in January.
Vice Chairman Mike Seidle (SIDE-lee) assumed the chairman's responsibilities after the diagnosis.
He'll continue those duties temporarily.
Dalton's funeral is tomorrow at the First Baptist Church of Collinsville.
