((NATE CUMMINGS/EMPLOYEE: THROUGH TRAGIC CIRCUMSTANCES I THINK WE'VE BEEN AFFORDED ANOTHER CHANCE HERE TO TRY AND PROVE WE CAN DO THINGS RIGHT, AND BE BETTER NEIGHBORS IN THE COMMUNITY BY REBUILDING THE PLANT.))
Even though rebuilding is already underway, New River Castings cannot officially return to business until a permit is issued for emissions from the core making machines and sand handling equipment.
Employees say the company has already made the changes they promised and issuing a permit will only keep the ball rolling.
((DAVID SIMMS/EMPLOYEE: IT LOOKS LIKE A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PLACE BACK THERE THAN IT DID BEFORE, ITS NOT VERY OFTEN IN YOUR CAREER YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO START OVER.))
But there are concerns in the community that the improvements are not enough and DEQ should require the scrubbers to control more than 80 percent of the emissions.
