It's not just cards and letters but marijuana, cociane and ecstacy going through the mail.
And it is the latest problem facing federal agents- tracking drugs not only in the U-S mail- but also in overnight delivery packages.
Lee Cowan says the promise of quick delivery seems to be just what drug traffickers are looking for.

(( Federal Express used to tout that when it absolutely positively had to get their overnight their drivers would get it there.
And for one Jamaican drug ring that promise sounded pretty good. For months it used FedEx drivers to help distribute more than 120 tons of Mexican marijuana to the East Coast.
Overnight delivery that in the end delivered more than a hundred people to jail -- but investigators say it is just the tip of a growing iceberg. REP. JIM TURNER, D-TX: Clearly we have a very serious problem to deal with.
Agents from the FBI and the DEA told Congress today drug traffickers are increasing using public and private mail services to deliver their illegal goods.
In 1999 alone drug seizures by US Customs agents soared more than 450 percent and thats only what was caught. So we dont have any idea how much, what volume of narcotics are flowing through the mails that we dont catch? No sir. COWAN: Using the mail to illegally deliver goods is nothing new but with the explosion of Internet chat rooms and Web sites it is easier than ever for consumers to find drug suppliers.
And what theyre supplying the most is this: ecstasy a drug growing more popular partly because it comes in tablets that are easy to mail. In this package here, we had a stuffed animal that contained 10-thousand ecstasy tablets smuggled from Germany.
More x-ray machines better staff trainingand fewer restriction on examining mail could help investigators identify more suspicious packages but with billions of pieces of mail being handled every single day even the experts agree catching it all, if like finding a needle in a haystack.
