A little rain was a small sacrifice for a crowd of thousands who gathered today to honor D-Day heroes in Bedford.

The city lost 23 young men during the Normandy invasion at a time when Bedford's population was just 32-hundred. Tonya Flory reports how Victory Plaza is making sure they'll never be forgotten.

An audience of four thousand sat silent as "Death on Shore" was unveiled at the National D-day memorial ceremony in Bedford. A granite arch, and another statue entitled "Across the Beach" were also dedicated. But it was the lone soldier with personal items falling out of his bag that evoked emotional response from the crowd.

Jack Hoffler was the youngest man to hit the beaches at Normandy, and was one of the first to connect with the tribute to the fallen soldiers. The sculptor Jim Brothers says all of his work comes from real stories told by veterans and their families.

Lake Worth Florida Police say two young people claim they saw Nathaniel Brazill with a handgun three days before he allegedy shot a teacher to death.
Now prosecutors say they may charge the 13-year old suspect as an adult.

Graphic 911: We have a teacher that's been shot at Lake Worth Middle School/He's been shot in the head. The suspect, 13-year-old Nathanial Brazil, had been sent home from school for throwing water balloons. When he came back Grunow would not allow him in his classroom and Brazil shot him. Police say Brazil had never been in trouble. In the search for answers, authorities are pouring over his computer, cd rom games and printed material found in his bedroom. chief william smith: these materials included printed web pages and other materials which may indicate the suspect was interested in military service or law enforcement or related weaponry. Police say the teenager apparently stole a semi-automatic pistol and bullets from his grandfather. And that two of Brazil's friends knew he had a gun. Suspect NB showed them a small caliber handgun last Tues, three days prior to last friday's shooting.))

Violence takes another young life- this time the shooting was in Los Angeles- killing the grandaughter of the Los Angeles Police Chief.

Chief Bernard Parks' 20-year old granddaughter was shot to death in the city's South Central area.
Lori Gonzalez had just driven away from a Popeyes fast food restaurant- she was shot several times by a gunman who walked up and opened fire on the car.
A police spokesman says the gunmen was apparently aiming for a male passenger in the car- who was not hurt.
So far no one's been arrested.

Closer to home- a Pulaski County man died this evening after he ran his car into a tree.
45-year old Billy Ray Harrison was driving south on route 100 in Pulaski shortly after six when he drove off the side of the road and struck a tree.
Officials say Harrison died at the scene.
No one else was injured.

Some residents were forced from their homes by the rekindling of one fire in Sarasota County that officials though

George Bailey, serving a six-year sentence for assault and battery, works in the prison's meat processing and packing plant.
That's where the prison cranks out as much as 5-thousand pounds of turkey and pork sausage a day.
All of it feeds inmates here and in ALL state prisons.

40-year-old cornerback Darrell Green will reportedly sign a new five-year contract with the Washington Redskins tomorrow.
A team source, told the AP that the contract will be worth more than Green's current five-year, $12.5 million deal, which has two years remaining.
Green is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection. He's the oldest cornerback to start an NFL game and the oldest player to return an interception for a touchdown. This year will mark his 18th season in the league.
