The underdog Cavaliers knew they would have to bring their A-game to this this quarterfinal battle with Byrd. In the bottom of the first, Scott Wise drives one into center field. It goes all the way to the wall. And Wise can run with the best of them. He's in safely for the Terrier triple.
A few batters later, Bo Royal uncorks one to center. It won't find the fence, but the sacrifice is enough to chase home Wise from third it's now 1-to-nothing Byrd. In the bottom of the second, Byrd's Ryan Lucas will slap a single into right field. He would later make it home to make it a two nothing game in favor of Byrd. In the four, Chatham would try to jump start its bats. William Shelhorse hits a line shot. But Byrd's Nick Jones robs him with the leaping catch at short to end the threat.
