A former Xerox repairman was convicted of gunning down seven co- workers in Hawaii last November.

[SUPER=03-Honolulu, HI;]
The jury deliberated for less than two hours yesterday before finding Bryan Uyesugi guilty of first- degree murder.
40- year- old Uyesugi showed no emotion when the verdict was read.
The conviction covers the seven murders, as well as the ATTEMPTED murder of an eighth co- worker.
The defense had argued Uyesugi suffered from psychosis when he committed the murders.
But prosecutors say he acted out of anger and retaliation.
He'll be sentenced August eighth.

(Various file Agca)
vo: He may have been forgiven by the Pope and pardoned by the Italian
government...but Mehmet Ali Agca now has to serve time in a Turkish jail
The man who tried to kill Pope John Paul II in St Peter's Square in 1981
was deported to Turkey after serving nearly 19 years of a life sentence
in Italy.
The 43-year old Agca was on the run after serving only 158 days of a ten
year sentence for murder in Turkey when he tried to kill the Pope.
He will have to finish that jail term.
(Agca in jail/with Pope)
vo: In a recent interview Agca said if he was ever freed he would lead a
holy life. But his pardon by Italy probably had more to do with the
wishes of Pope John Paul II than any of the many and diverse
pronouncements Agca has made about his life and motives. He has
variously claimed to have been part of a conspiracy...Jesus Christ...and
a victim who had history imposed on him. Only the Pope may know for
sure. John Paul II forgave Agca two days after the shooting...and
again in a jail cell meeting with him nearly two years later. The
Vatican expressed pleasure that the official pardon came in the Jubilee
year...whose theme is pardon and forgiveness.

Meanwhile, the situation is urgent in Colorado.
Officials say brush fires there have exhausted the U-S Forest Service's supply of fire retardant.
The fires have burned nearly 10- thousand acres and dozens of homes.
