But before they could process the information... the man sped off taking authorities on a high sped chase down Interstate 81 and Route 460 before police cut him off in Elliston by Big Spring road.

A Lynchburg man died today after colliding with a car while competing in the Third Annual Greater Blacksburg Triathlon.
30 year old Gary Wayne Taylor died about an hour after the accident... which happened near the Virginia Tech coliseum around nine A-M.
A Virginia Tech spokesman says Taylor was pedaling North on Tech Center Drive when he collided with a car.
The triathlon was sponsored by the town of Blacksburg.

A Lynchburg man faces charges of driving under the influence after an accident that killed a Bedford County piano teacher.
42-year-old Julia Elizabeth Wade's car was struck head on as she traveled South on Route 221 early yesterday morning.
She was a renowned piano teacher and performer.
Police believe 25-year old Justin Michael Mays was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Mays is hospitalized at Lynchburg General but his condition is not being released.

Approximately 35- hundred vehicles passed through a sobriety check point last night in Franklin County.

State Police along with local authorities conducted the check point on Route 220 to make drivers aware that if you drink and drive you're going to jail.
A total of 32- summons and arrests were made.
Four of the arrests involved alcohol.
State police say two others involved drugs.
Authorities also arrested three people who were wanted on outstanding warrants.
Officials say they plan to set up other check points through out the summer.
