A couple of mobile homes caught fire this afternoon in Bedford County.

The fire broke out around 2:45 at the Hardy Road mobile home park.
Roanoke County firefighters were called in to help the Bedford County units save as much as they could.
No one was home at the time, and no one was hurt.
The cause hasn't been determined.

U-S Senator Chuck Robb and a handful of fellow lawmakers unveiled a program today that they say would benefit the nation's seniors.
It's called the "Medicare Outpatient Drug Act".
Robb says it would provide prescription benefits to the nation's seniors without any gaps in coverage.

Major league baseball officials are meeting today with some of their research scientists to determine whether or not the baseballs being used this year are being doctored at the factory to make them travel farther. A record 931 homers were hit in the month of April alone, prompting scientists to tour the Rawlings baseball facilities in Costa Rica. Their findings reportedly show that the balls are no different than the ones used last year.

People in the New River Valley today might have noticed World War Two era stunt planes roaring overhead.

The Stearman A-75 planes took to the skies to promote a partnership between Red Baron Pizza and Miracle Flights for Kids.
The six Red Baron stunt pilots fly around the country in their open-cockpit planes.
They perform their daredevil maneuvers to help raise money for the childrens' charities.
Miracle Flights for Kids helps fly sick children and their families to hospitals for treatment.
The company is donating money from pizzas bought in this area to support the charity.
