The Roanoke County School Board is expected to decide tomorrow ... on districting the county's new high school in Cave Spring.
The debate over redistricting continued last night.
As Kate Weidaw reports, the school board's third plan may be the compromise most parents are looking for.

That comment brought applause from parents who are asking the school board to make the best decision when it comes to their children's future. The new high school has brought debate on who will attend it and who will not. The third plan the school board has come up with, would have students at Back Creek, Oak Grove, and Cave Spring Elementary attend Hidden Valley Junior High and then the new high school. Students at Bent Mountain, Clearbrook, Green Valley, and Penn Forest would attend Cave Spring Junior High and then Cave Spring High School. Parents say this might be the best plan out of the three to keep students together.

But few women understand how important a clinical breast exam by a doctor is. A study from the centers for disease control shows breast exams can detect cancers mammograms can't. In fact, in this study 16% of all cancers found by a clinical breast exam were missed on a mammogram. So women, you need three things, a yearly mammogram, a monthly self exam and a yearly breast exam by your doctor.

VT=VO

Also, more and more girls are starting their period at a younger age, some as early as 8 or 9. To blame, less exercise and more TV. Researchers at the University of Wisconsin say American girls are heavier at a younger age than ever before and that's what triggers an early period. So why you might ask is staring your period at a very young age so bad, well it's a risk for breast cancer later in life.

VT=VO

And finally today, got a headache? Check your blood pressure. We used to think high blood pressure was a silent disease, no symptoms. But a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine finds the rate of chronic headaches skyrocket when people have a mild elevation in their blood pressure. Just a couple of points too high is enough to make your noggin pound.
