The clock is ticking for Texas condemned killer Gary Graham, who's scheduled to die tonight.
But death penalty opponents are gathered outside the maximum security prison, hoping for a change of heart from the parole board.
The case could become an issue in this year's presidential campaign.

Here in Virginia, convicted killer Russel William Burket has a new lease on life, at least for now.
The U-S Supreme Court stopped his execution last night .. and hour and a quarter before he was scheduled to die in Virginia's electric chair.
(XXXXXXXX)

[TAKE PINNACLE]
Burket was convicted of the 1993 murders in Virginia Beach of a woman and her five year old daughter.
Court records show Burket beat Katherine (Ta-fell-ski's) Tafelski's head in with "a rusted metal pry bar."
Burket then used the same bar to sexually assault Tafelski and beat in her daughter's skull.

Burket's lawyers say he had ineffective counsel at the time of trial.

A similar maneuver brought the other worker down safely, in a rescue that was carried live on T-V in many places around the country.
