as the countdown to the execution rolled on.
It was a tense scene outside the Huntsville Texas Prison after the US
Supreme Court, in a five to four vote, refused to grant a stay in the
case.
Then, just moments away from the end of the death row inmate's life,
lawyers filed yet another court appeal.
This one a civil lawsuit against the Texas Parole Board.

He claimed all along that the single eyewitness who identified him as
the killer was mistaken.

Authorities in Spokane, Washington are trying to figure out how a toddler got his hands on a loaded handgun.
The two- year- old boy was found carrying the weapon in the parking lot of an apartment complex Wednesday.
Hs mother told police she doesn't know where the boy got the gun.
Police say protective services officials had checked on the boy just a day before the incident.
He's now in foster care.

Campbell's friends and co-workers gave him a big sendoff yesterday at the Patrick Henry Hotel.
