A New York businessman is putting up a 50 thousand dollar reward for information leading to Sarah Wisnosky's "real killer."
And Derek Barnabei's (barn-uh-BAY'S) lawyers say a new D-N-A test could prove their client's innocence -- or guilt.

That means he's likely to be assigned an execution date soon.
So his lawyers held a news conference today in Norfolk, where Lynchburg teen Sarah Wisnosky was killed.

Wisnosky left Lynchburg for her freshman year at Old Dominion University.
She began dating Derek Barnabei.
On September 21st, 1993, she was killed with blows from something like a ball peen hammer to her head-- in Barnabei's room in a house he shared with three other men.
Her body was dumped in the Elizabeth River.
Her lawyers announced a 50-thousand dollar reward today... and asked that the state D-N-A test blood found under Wisnosky's fingernails.

Despite evidence of trauma the medical examiner found, they also allege Barnabei and Wisnosky had consensual sex before she was murdered-- throwing the death sentence into question.

Prosecutors have brought more charges against the man charged in the murder of Radford teen Tara Munsey.

Today, a grand jury indicted Jeffrey Allen Thomas on charges of capital murder during a rape or attempted rape AND unlawful use of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Thomas was arrested and charged with Munsey's murder back in February.
He was a friend of the 16-year-old's family.
At his preliminary hearing earlier this month, a friend said Thomas confessed to the murder.
He'll face trial sometime during the next court term.

An 800- thousand dollar lawsuit against a Lynchburg police officer is a step closer to going to trial.

Tonya Crowe is suing Officer Anthony Martin for injuries she suffered at the Central Virginia police academy in 1998.
Crowe was training to become a deputy when she was hurt in a self- defense class Martin was teaching.
Martin was demonstrating a hold on another student when he lost his balance and fell into Crowe, dislocating her knee and breaking her wrist.
She reportedly can no longer pursue a career in law enforcement.
Martin's lawyer today asked that the lawsuit be dismissed.
A judge wants both sides to provide more background on the facts of the case before he decides whether the suit should go to trial.

A Pittsylvania county man is dead tonight following a shooting near Chatham.
Authorities say 60- year -old John Whitehead Motley died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The Sheriff's Department has arrested 44- year- old David Whitehead Hutcherson, the victim's nephew.
He is being held without bond in the Pittsylvania County jail. In a news release this afternoon, investigators said they don't know what lead to the shooting.

John Brophy, the man who has done more to fill seats at the Roundhouse than almost anyone during hockey season, remains in critical condition tonight. The 67-year-old coach of the Hampton Roads Admirals lost control of his car in Nova Scotia, Canada yesterday and crashed. He has a broken leg, injuries to his face and eyes, and a buildup of blood on the brain. At this time his prognosis is uncertain.

The troubled Arcadia Leadership Academy in Buchanan (BUCK-annon) has lost its state appeal.
The alternative school for boys was denied a license to operate as a boarding school in April.
That's after inspections by state education and social services officials resulted in 24 pages of safety, discipline, and health violatons.
A spokesman for the Academy says the school will now conduct a legal appeal-- although it must go through the same state agency.
