Mr. Ping is Jimmy Ping.. Dearington's principal for the last six years.
Last week, administrators decided to shift Ping and principals at Kizer, Linkhorne and Perrymont Elementary schools.
The move has parents outraged.. Ping is revered at Dearington as an innovator who's made a special connection with each of his students.
When news of his reassignment spread, parents had trouble explaining the move to their children.

But the Supervisors put off a decision until their meeting on July 25.
They say they just don't know enough about the improvements that must be made to the site before construction begins.

Supervisors agreed that the church should not be solely burdened with research expenses. They opted to assign the project to a joint committee comprised of county engineers and church officials.
But dozens of residents who live near the proposed site say they are disappointed with the delay.

The church bought almost 43 acres of land and may buy even more, though officials plan to use only about 10 for the new complex.
Regardless, County Supervisors estimate it'll cost at least a half million dollars for road and sewage construction, and that's without improvements.

The victim is well known in the tobacco industry in Danville and Pittsylvania County.
He is the co-owner of Motley's Warehouse in Danville.

23-year-old Jason Wolfe was arrested in August for the first-degree murder of 24-year-old Michael Alderman.
Police say Wolfe caught Alderman in bed with his then-girlfriend and killed him with several blows to the head.
Wolfe married the woman while he was in jail.
In court today, he told the judge that, despite the prison sentence, his marriage is strong.

The ones you need to know first are the rules of the road.

After years of debate, two vetoes from George Allen, and some accident horror stories, kids under age 16 are NO longer allowed in the beds of pickup trucks.
Adults learning to drive can only take the license test three times in three months... and must either go to driving school or hold a learners permit for 30 days.
First time drunk drivers with blood alcohol levels of point-2-0 or higher will spend at least five days in jail... mandatory.
After all, that's more than twice the legal limit.
For subsequent D-U-I convictions, the penalties are also increased.
Voter registrars are now allowed to set up in D-M-V offices to get you to fill out absentee ballots.
And finally, don't get too cute with your license plate.
Holders, covers, and tow hitches must NOT obscure the readability of your license plate.

Yesterday the clinic welcomed 150 campers ages nine through 11. Monday, six, seven and eight year olds got their first taste of football. The camp is designed to introduce kids to the game, but when is the best age to start playing football in a team setting in full pads?

The Avalanche pulled one out at home tonight against Myrtle Beach. Payback for Monday night's 10 to two defeat at the wings of the Pelicans.

The game went on despite the intermittent showers, but the fans came prepared.
And so did the Salem defense. Catcher Josh Bard tags the runner out at the plate then makes the throw to second. The runner is tagged out to end the inning.

Bard again makes the play, this hit to left field in the bottom of the fourth scores the winning run as Salem goes on to beat Myrtle Beach one to nothing.

Judah has been the head pro at the Homestead since 1991 in that time he's coached one athlete that's one a national title.
