The rape and murder of a 17-year old Lynchburg girl seven years ago is now prompting defense calls for D-N-A testing ... and Virginia is likely to see many more just like it.
Yesterday's request begins with the beating death of Sarah Wisnosky in 1993.

Lawyers in the Attorney General's office say they're satisfied there's already enough evidence of Barnabei's guilt.

Also, Virginia's Legislative Black Caucus sent a letter to Governor Jim Gilmore.
The black lawmakers are joining the call for a moratorium on executions in Virginia-- until their fairness can be studied.
However, Governor Gilmore rejected the request. A Gilmore aide said yesterday that the governor believes there are sufficient safeguards to ensure that innocent people aren't put to death.
