Authorities say it started as an altercation between the two women at a home in the Lillydell Section of Pulaski County.

26 year -old Sherry Lisa Cressell has been charged with 2nd degree murder.
A family member of Cressell says the two women had been friends for a while.
Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim at this time. She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 3 A.M.

Motorcycle accidents this weekend have sent at least three people to area hospitals for treatment.

One of them was riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway this afternoon near the Floyd-Franklin County line.
He was airlifted to Roanoke for treatment of multiple injuries.
Reports from the scene indicate he was aboard one of three motorcycles riding together near the Devils's backbone.
No word yet on the cause ... or the victim's identity or condition.

In neighboring Pittsylvania County, another set of numbers shows a major overcrowding problem ... one of the worst in Virginia.
State figures show the jail was the third most crowded in 19-98 ... operating at 270 per cent of capacity.
Pittsylvania County officials are preparing a preliminary report for Supervisors to consider. Options would include building a new jail, expanding the present one, or doing nothing.

They must also carry 10- thousand dollars worth of insurance.
Jeb Bush singed the bill into law over the objections of medical and safety groups.

A Richmond-area man was found dead today in Highland County's gorge area.
Investigators identify him as 48 year old Harold (Bows) Bowes of Mechanicsville.
His body has been sent to the state medical examiner for further investigation. Highland County authorities are not yet releasing further information.

O the PGA side, Notah Begay won for the second straight time. He holed a 25 foot birdie putt on the final hole for a one stroke win over Mark Calcavecchia in the Greater Hartford Open. Begay finished with a 7 under 64 to break the tournament record, Tiger Woods was HIS roommate at Stanford.

When soemone asks if he or she can practice their karate moves on you, they better be trust worthy. Lynchburg's Joseph Catlett doesn't get any questions from his karate family, one that has captured national championships and set records at the Virginia Commonwealth games. Denise Allen explains.

An innovator in the marshall arts, Catlett developed his own training system and perfected it on his family.

At 15, she's the undefeated girl's blackbelt fighter in the 15 to 17 year old division.

Catlett wants to stress karate is about teaching discipline and focus. Fighting is an afterthought.
He's seen diadvantaged youth learn to succeed in his school. 50 year old women have gained self-esteem and pregnant students have maintained their physical fitness.

Team Wildcat holds the record for most gold medals won by a karate school in the Commonwealth Games.
The team will be competing in the Games again this year on July 15th.
