Just a handful turned out for this meeting.. after a long discussion behind closed doors, the school board told them their voices had been heard, but the reassignments would be upheld.

A car crash killed seven people on a highway on the Navajo Indian Reservation.

Driving in two vehicles, the group was on its way from a birthday party to another gathering.

With seven police cruisers chasing him, the driver of a stolen black S-U-V sped down the freeway, then veered off onto several crowded city streets.
He reached speeds between 90 and 95- miles- per- hour.
In an effort to slow him down, one police car bumped into him and the S-U-V rolled.
Both the driver and passenger face felony auto theft and felony charges for eluding police.

Police have identified the woman who died as a result of a weekend motorcycle accident.

She was a passenger on the motorcycle headed east on Shenandoah Avenue late Saturday night.

The man driving the bike- -William David Damewood of Roanoke-- was also injured and is in critical condition.

Investigators say the pilot of a small plane that crashed in Augusta County last year probably suffered a heart attack.

The twin engine piper went down near the community of Deerfield last July. The pilot, Doctor Brian Hawley of Forest City, Arkansas, was the only person on board.
The National Transportation Safety Board found that the airplane had been on a continuous maintenance program, and the wreckage indicated the plane was under power at the time of the impact.
There were enough remains to conduct an autopsy, but the N-T-S-B reports the pilot's father, two uncles and a cousin had all suffered fatal heart attacks.

The Lynchburg school board is sticking with its decision to reassign four principals.
Because they are personnel moves, the board can't make public the specifics of why they're being made. That hasn't sat well with the concerned parents who say the moves were done too quickly and without apparent reason.

Police have identified the woman who died as a result of a motorcycle accident on Shenandoah Avenue Saturday night.
She was 28-Year old Christy Mae Blankenship of Vinton. The man driving the bike- -William David Damewood of Roanoke-- was also injured and is in critical condition.

Danville has a new mayor and vice-mayor.
By a seven to two vote, Council made John Hamlin mayor.
Wayne Wiiliams won a unanimous vote for vice mayor.
Mayor Hamlin is a 14 year veteran of the Danville city council.
