The investigation involving former police lieutenant Bill Brown and the death of his wife has ended without criminal charges.

Carmel Brown died last August at their home on the outskirts of Vinton.
She was sitting in her vehicle inside the garage. She died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
BILL Brown reported her death to the Vinton Police Department- -where he worked at the time.

Because of that, County authorities weren't notified for hours.
A release from the county prosecutor's office tonight says "no evidence has been found at this time to contradict the findings of the medical examiner."

But the hive is still buzzing and scientists have yet to determine what kind of bees are responsible.

James Downey is used to working with bees.
But says he's never encountered any quite as aggressive as the ones that have made their home in several vacant hives in his backyard... hives left over from his days as a beekeeper.

The baseball championship of the Commonwealth games wrapped up yesterday at Kiwanis Field in Salem. Steve Mason says the career of Cave Spring pitcher Tyler Lumsden is just about ready to take off. Here's his story.

((Tyler Lumsden's claim to fame up until this year was his basketball exploits as one of Cave Spring's sharp shooters along side another pretty darn good marksman in J.J. Reddick. But Tyler is climbing the charts at a pace that nearly matches his blistering fast ball. ((:))
Lumsden has all of the tools college and even major league scouts are looking for at this stage of his development. He's a leftie, he has movement on his pitches, he has an effective slider and change up, plus is working on a sinker. But speed kills and Tyler is throwing 91 miles an hour. ((:)) Major League and college scouts watched the all district and all region pitcher at the Commonwealth games baseball competition day at Kiwanins Field. ((:)) Tyler was 7 and 1 this past season with a 3.00 ERA. The 17 year old is being recruited by North Carolina, Duke, UVa and Virginia Tech.))

Danville native Johnny Newman was back home yesterday for his annual basketball camp.

Michael Irvin's N-F-L career will come to an end later today.

The spinal injury that ended Irvin's 1999 football season is sending the Dallas wide receiver into retirement.
The announcement has been expected for months and it will come today at a news conference at Texas Stadium.
Irvin along with Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith led the Cowboys to 3 Super Bowl Championships in a four year span.
