Rescue workers have recovered the body of the boy who drowned yesterday in the New River.

13-year old Cody Cash was discovered around one this afternoon-- after a six hour search.
He was found on the river floor -- under about 20 feet of water.
The body was nearly 50 feet downstream from where he disappeared yesterday evening.

Cody and his 8-year-old sister had been out fishing with a 10-year old friend and his mother.
All four went in the river and got sucked in by the current.
The other three were rescued and are in good condition.
About 40 people -- most of them volunteers -- showed up to help with the recovery.
Their air and water search covered a one-and-a-half mile stretch of the river.

A former Wythe County deputy has been charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
A County grand jury indicted Trenton Davis on one count of aggravated sexual battery.
He resigned from the sheriff's department in May, shortly after the alleged incident.
Davis is out on a 5-thousand dollar bond.

Washington Authorities caught up with a 13-year old boy suspected in yesterday's school shooting-

Police found the boy at his grandparent's home- after family members called authorities this morning saying the boy was ready to surrender.
The 13 year old fired a shot into the ceiling at a Middle School- no one was hurt.
Witnesses say the boy was dressed in black and had blue, spiky hair. Today the boy looked different from that description as officers escorted him to a downtown Seattle youth center.

The latest poll conducted for News 7 shows Republican Presidential candidate George W. Bush holding a strong lead over Democrat Al Gore.

More than 600 Virginians were asked whom they would vote for if the election were held today.
Statewide Bush has an eleven point lead over the Vice-President, though that's dropped a few points since the last poll in September.

The poll conducted by Mason Dixon shows Bush leading in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads by a relatively small margin.
48 percent of those polled in the Lynchburg area said they would vote for the Texas Governor.
According to the survey, Bush would take 51 percent of the vote in the Roanoke area and Southwest Virginia.
The poll has a four percent margin of error.

The Senate has voted to divorce the marriage penalty from the tax code.
The bill that passed this afternoon is designed to eliminate a part of the code that forces married couples to pay more in taxes than if they were single and both filing separately.
Democrats charged the bill benefits the rich and the President says he'll veto it unless he gets a Medicare prescription drug bill.
