He and a female passenger were flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Roanoke County has landed a substantial state grant that will put more police officers in county schools.
The 500- thousand dollar grant from the Department of Criminal Justice Services will allow the county to hire four resource officers for its middle and junior high schools.

Martinsville now has facility dedicated to caring for those with Alzheimer's and dementia. Blue Ridge Manor is an assisted living facility, with 67 beds, 30 of those dedicated to those with dementia.
The facility will mean 30 new jobs for the area.
