A FEDERAL JUDGE HAS RULED THAT NAPSTER, THE HUGELY POPULAR SITE WHERE USERS DOWNLOAD MUSIC FOR FREE, IS IN VIOLATION OF COPYWRIGHT LAW AND THAT NAPSTER MUST, IN EFFECT, SHUT DOWN. CARY SHERMAN, RECORDING INDUSTRY ATTY. The idea is to keep commercial pirates out of the market place, so legitimate commerce can flourish. ITS BEEN AN ONGOING BATTLE BETWEEN MAINSTREAM RECORD COMPANIES, AND THE CUTTING-EDGE INTERNET NAPSTER PROVIDED USERS SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWED THEM TO SWAP MUSIC IT WAS SO SIMPLE TO USE, THAT AN ESTIMATED 20-MILLION PEOPLE WORLDWIDE WERE SWAPPING SONGS FOR FREE. IT IS ESPECIALLY POPULAR WITH KIDS WHO DON'T WANT TO PAY FIFTEEN DOLLARS FOR A C.D.
CRAIG MARKS, the problem for the record companies is that kids now are very hooked on this way to get music; its free its fun its illicit, which they like, its on their computer it has a lot of attractive properties to it. THE RECORD COMPANIES, WHO HAVENT REALLY COME UP WITH AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO SELL MUSIC ON LINE, CLAIM NAPSTER IS STEALING THEIR PROFITS. THE RECORDING ARTISTS THEMSELVES DONT LIKE IT EITHER. THE BAND METTALICA EVEN SUED NAPSTER. FOR NOW AT LEAST THE RECORDING INDUSTRY WINS. AN APPEALS COURT MAY LET NAPSTER KEEP OPERATING BUT IF NOT-NAPSTER WILL SHUT DOWN THIS FRIDAY AT MIDNIGHT.))

And safety experts say the driver would have a higher than average probablity of head injuries-
That's why the car earned only 2 out of four stars- in head on crash tests.
