Danville Police are looking for a man they consider armed and dangerous.
David Lee Hicks is a fugitive from North Carolina, but he was last seen in Danville and authorities believe he could still be in the area.

Authorities say he stole an officers gun, escaped from police and kidnapped a North Carolina woman apparently at random last night.

Demonstrators set fire to a fence near the presidential palace.

About 35 people have been hurt in clashes between protestors and police.
The demonstrators are protesting the inauguration of President Alberto Fujimori to an unprecedented third term.

Beginning August 9th, 53 members of the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen in the Virginia Division are being furloughed.
48 are members of signal construction gangs.
5 are signal maintenance workers.

The Bank of America announced it's cutting back seven percent of its workforce to revive growth and reduce costs.
The company's announcement comes nearly two years after it merged with Nationsbank which owned numerous branches throughout Virginia.
The cuts mark the latest wave of sharp job reductions at the bank. Since the merger, the bank has slashed about twenty five thousand jobs.

A company that makes baby carriers is recalling one of its products after two infants fell through them and fractured their skulls.

The carriers made by the Hufco Delaware Company were sold under the name Gerry Trailtech.
They are slate blue with teal trim or green with black trim and black plastic frames.
The baby carrying backpacks were sold for four years beginning in 1996.
Officials say the leg openings are too big and allowed small infants to slip through.
Just last year Hufco-Delaware and Evenflo Company recalled Snugli Front and Back Pack soft infant carriers, for the same type of problem.

A first class health and wellness center is coming to the community.

An amusement park just west of Tokyo unveiled the world's tallest, deepest, fastest and longest roller coasters today.
The Steel Dragon 2000 is 328 feet high. The cars reach speeds of 95 miles per hour on the 81 hundred foot course.
The whole ride last three and a half minutes and it cost the park 55 MILLION dollars to build. It will open to the public next week.
Up until now the Millenium Force at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio was the world's biggest roller coaster.
