An explosion at Pulaski County High School forces hundreds of summer school students to do their studying somewhere else.

More than 200 students will be rerouted to another school starting tomorrow. The explosion rocked Pulaski County High this weekend.

The blast occured in a room behind the cafeteria. The room houses both the electrical and gas services for the school .. Superintendent David Cox says the explosion caused major structural damage - and right now the school is considered unstable. Engineers will be on site tomorrow to try to determine the extent of the damages. In the meantime, summer school students will be taken to Critzer Elementary for classes.

Meanwhile-- French officials are continuing their investigation into what caused the accident.
Investigators say flames coming from the doomed plane probably came from a punctured fuel tank... not an engine.

A flight bound from London to New York landed in Newfoundland after passengers complained about a smell of gasoline in the cabin.

A move which angered some House Republicans, who say the administration lacks the legal authority to do that. 70 cities receive money for the program - they pay 50 dollars apiece for guns turned in by private owners. It took a playoff to determine this years winner of the Ole Monterey Classic. Matt Mankin, the defending champion, beat Mark Funderburke on the third hole of the playoff for the win.

The third round of the John Deere Classic was suspended today because of heavy rains.
Steve Lowery shot an 8 under par 63 and he's the leader in the clubhouse with the final round scheduled to resume tomorrow morning.
Lowery is at 268, 16 under par.

Meantime on the Senior Tour, Bruce Fleisher set a record at the Long Island Classic for the third straight day.
Fleisher shot a 3 under par 69 to finish at 198, 18 under par. He set a course record with a 63, logged a 36 hole record score of 129, 15 under par and broke Lee Trevino's old mark by two strokes.

Some of the Seniors were in Northern Ireland for the British Open.
Christy O'Connor finished with a 9 under par to win the tournament. John Bland was second at 7 under par and Hubert Green third at 5 under.

((The Panthers defense needs major improvements and this training camp, no one, not even the minister of defense and future hall of famer Reggie White is excused from crushing workouts to whip this unit into shape. ((:))
Signing White, who will be a role player in on 15 to 20 snaps a game, , and fellow defensive line veterans, Eric Swann and Chuck Smith should improve a front rated 24th against the run. ((ERIC SWANN:)) ((STEVE MASON:))

The defensive secondary is also stepping up it's intensity. The Panthers pass defense gave up 225 yards a game, well above the league average of 199 yards. The Roanoke Wrath for the second time in the past two days.
Northern Virginia beats the Wrath this afternoon 4 to nothing.
The Wrath will hold a free clinic at 6 PM on Tuesday night August the fifth for Camp Virginia Jaycees. A ticket will be given to each kid that attends the clinic and afterwards the Wrath will scrimmage the Camp Jaycee counselors.
