In their final report, State Police fire investigators say the blaze was an accident.

The fire ravaged the historic church on July 18-th, collapsing the roof and steeple and filling the sanctuary with rubble.

Ken Barnett lives two doors down from the victim but says he didn't know how badly Mike Campbell was hurt until it was too late.

Library director Beverly James is leaving next month to take a similar job in Greenville, South Carolina.
James has been in Roanoke more than 12 years.
She says the opportunity in Greenville was too good to pass up, because that city is about to build several new libraries.

Steam locomotive 12-18 has been in storage for years.
But last week, workers eased it out of the shops, and began sprucing it up.
Vanity Fair wants to use the locomotive as a background for the photos of Link.
The 12-18 was stored in the shops after Norfolk Southern stopped running steam excursions in 1994.
O. Winston Link is best known for the nighttime photographs he took of steam trains on the old Norfolk and Western Railway in the late 1950s.

Coach Beamer flew in from Houston where he had spoken to the Texas high school coaches clinic, the largest of it's kind in the country. Beamer has not only enjoyed his success at Tech, but is pleased both state programs have excelled.

The New Orleans Saints, one of the 49ers NFC West rivals, have picked up former Virginia quarterback Aaron Brooks.

Brooks, who starred at UVa up until the late 90's, was traded to the saints from the Green Bay Packers along with tight end Lamont Hall in exchange for linebacker K.D. Williams and an undisclosed draft pick. Brooks was a fourth round draft pick by the Packers. He will reunite with his college position coach in Mike McCarthy, who is now the Saints offensive coordinator.

One coaching note. Jamie Talbott, who coached Rockbridge County to the Blue Ridge title in 1993, has been hired as an assistant principal and assistant football coach at James River high school.
Talbott's peers voted him Friday Football Extra's Double-A coach of the year back in 1993. Before coaching at Rockbridge County he was the head coach at old Natural Bridge.
