An accidental fire at a Montgomery County apartment complex evacuated fifteen people, many of them Virginia Tech students.

The fire broke out yesterday morning in a second-floor kitchen at the Ridgeview Apartments.
Firefighters say it appears to have been sparked by boxes left on a stovetop.
Heavy smoke spread quickly to surrounding units.
No one was hurt.
Several bystanders and a deputy knocked on doors and windows and rescued two people before firefighters arrived.
The blaze destroyed six apartments and caused an estimated 50-thousand dollars in damage.

A tow-truck carrying this silver car attempted to change lanes, bounced off a tractor-trailer and crashed through the guard rail, landing on the 137 exit ramp. The driver, David Burton of Northern Virginia was taken to Roanoke Memorial with minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn't injured. Burton has been charged with reckless driving-failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
