THE TIRES IN QUESTION HAVE ALLEGEDLY LED TO MORE THAN 45-DEATHS, DOZENS OF INJURIES, AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEIR SAFETY. MOST OF THE COMPLAINTS CAME FROM CUSTOMERS IN WARM CLIMATES WHERE EXCESSIVE HEAT CAN AFFECT TIRE TREAD BONDING AND POSSIBLY, LEAD TO TREAD SEPARATION.

A woman is dead and a sheriff's deputy severely injured after a head-on collision in Floyd County this afternoon.

State police say Becky J. Gillespie crossed the center line and struck Deputy Roger Dickerson head-on.
Gillespie died at the scene.

The pap smear has been one of the biggest success stories in cancer prevention, it has decreased deaths from cervical cancer by approximately 70-percent.
But doctors hope a relatively new pap test will improve that rate even more.

Don't look now but the once lowly Lynchburg Hillcats are now just a game and a half out of first place in the Northern Division.
The Cats have now won 7 of their last 10 games including last night's victory over Winston-Salem.

Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is counting on the luck of the Irish.

It is adding another "country" to its theme park. Ireland will open in the Spring of 2001. One of the cornerstones of the new park will be a simulator ride that takes guests through a 3-D journey through the Land of the Giants.
It addition to that, Busch Gardens is promising leprechauns, an authentic pub, and a Irish dance show.
