Firestone is recalling six million tires, but it will be a while before Virginia customers get the replacement tires.

The company has identified a defect in the tires that is triggered by heat.

If the tire pressure is not correct, the tread may separate from the rest of the tire, causing the tire to split open or blow off.
Firestone recommends that tire pressure be between 26 and 30 P-S-I, so that heat can dissipate.
