A number of construction projects next year will change the look of Interstate 81.

Transportation officials plan to use 37 and a half million dollars in state funding to upgrade the highway.
Plans include lengthening the acceleration lanes where 581 joins North and Southbound 81.
Similar improvements will take place at exits 109, 114 and 162 near Buchanan.
Road crews will also be installing median guardrails in hopes of lessening the number of crashes involving vehicles that cross the median into oncoming traffic.

Construction crews are working extremely hard to finish up the ongoing jumbotron project in the North endzone that includes a brand new section of permanent stands. Some landscaping is in place and concrete is still being poured, but crews promise to have everything finished up by Sunday.
