Former School Board Member and longtime Roanoke businesswoman Marilyn Curtis has died. Diagnosed with heart problems last fall, she passed away this morning at the age of 74.

Marilyn Curtis was first appointed to the City School board in 1988, and she served the maximum of three consecutive terms.
Curtis was also well-known in Roanoke and across Virginia for her work with the Hamlar - Curtis Funeral Home. She served as the first female president of the Virginia Morticians Association.... and held leadership positions in many business, civic and community organizations.

Most babies are tested by a health care worker using a rattle. This method often misses disorders in young children.
