Two of the those injured in Friday night's shooting remain in the hospital tonight. Iris P. Webb is in critical condition at Carilion Roanoke Memorial. John W. Collins is in stable condition.
Four others are now recovering at home, and one of them, Kathy Caldwell, told us her story this afternoon.

It was the first game of an historic, day-night, three-team doubleheader.

The strange doubleheader was made possible by an Indians-White Sox rain out at Jacobs Field earlier this month.

((Woody Dantzler was dazzling. The junior rushing for 220 yards and averaged 12.2 yards a carry. His big play capability produced two huge runs, this 75 yarder that would put the Tigers up 24-10 and then a 45 yarder. He is conference's leading rusher, and is 13th nationally. ((:))
Dantzler is also the nation's third rated passer and number one in the ACC. He's also 7th in the nation in total offense. Despite lofty stats, Virginia Tech's Michael Vick still sets the standard. ((:)) ((:)) While Dantzler is running, Arlen Harris is rubbing his left knee. Still recovering from September 8th surgery, he has watched the three headed monster that includes himself, Antwoine Womack and Tyree Foreman go from a 263 yard, 4 TD outing against BYU, to an average of 114 yards and 1 touchdown in the last three games minus Harris.))

Tech has lost one of the fathers of its football program. Jerry Claiborne died yesterday of a heart attack he was 72.
