Anger over the Yugoslav president's refusal to step down is taking a violent turn. Black smoke has been billowing from Yugoslavia's parliament building since anti-government protesters clashed with police this morning. Demonstrators are now in control of the building. Earlier today, security forces retaliated with stun grenades and tear gas. Those who oppose president Slobodan Milosevic are upset over his demand that a run-off election be held this weekend.

Milosevic refuses to concede defeat in an earlier election. At least one member of the opposition has promised bloodshed if Milosevic doesn't change his mind. Lisa Leigh joins us live now from Washington with the latest.

Plans include lengthening the acceleration lanes where 581 joins North and Southbound 81.
The plan will be finalized in two weeks.

School board members have agreed to award a single contract to one general contractor. They originally planned to award 19 different contracts, but 5 weren't bid on, and the school board said the rest were too high. The board says they plans to award the contract to a local builder Monday. The County Board of Supervisors will then have to release funding for the project. The new high school is slated for completion in time for the start of classes in the Fall of 2002.

Firestone and Ford are facing tough questions on Capitol Hill about tires on Ford Explorers that have a tendency to shred. The problem is being blamed for more than 150-deaths. Now, a new investigation suggests Explorers might not be the only vehicles sporting the potentially deadly tread. The spare on many 2001 Ford Rangers is the same make, model and size as the recalled tires.

Officials from B-W-X Technologies say no one was exposed to radiation after a slow leak was discovered at one of the company's nuclear facilities in Campbell County.
The leak was discovered two weeks ago... near a containment pool at the Lynchburg Technology Center.
The pool holds irradiated hardware and "spent fuel" from commercial nuclear reactors.
A B-W-X spokesman says the leak was patched. A test of groundwater around the site showed no contamination.
