Welcome one and all to Friday Football Extra right here on Your Hometown Station.
Tonight we hit week number 8 of the season, and what a week this shaped up to be for the folks in the Roanoke Valley district.
[GRAPHIC=FLEMING/PULASKI]
The number one team in the Friday Football Extra Super 7, the Pulaski County Cougars hosted the William Fleming Colonels this evening at Kenneth Dobson Stadium.
A win would push the Cougars record to 8-and-0 - but more than it would give Joel Hicks a measure of revenge against a Colonel program that has had his number the past three years.
(------------)
[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=51-Pulaski Co./Wm. Fleming at Pulaski Co.; ]
It as clear and crisp evening at Kenneth Dobson Stadium as Jennifer Hamblin was crowned this year's homecoming queen and, of course, Frank Cobbs was the king.
The Cougars had a 20-to-3 halftime lead and in the third they would eat the clock with King Cobb scrambling for 32 yards on this play as the Cougars pick up a first down.
Seven plays later, Josh Calfee caps the drive with a six yard run into the endzone to make it a 27-to-3 Cougar lead as Pulaski takes complete control.
Fleming just couldn't figure out how to come back quickly tonight as this 77 yard drive takes entirely too long as Demetrius Grant goes in from the four.
[SUPER=52-William Fleming/10/Pulaski Co./27;]
But Pulaski wins easily tonight 27-to-10 to stay perfect in the district and perfect overall at 8-and-0.

For years the two schools have fought each other for athletic supremacy, academic prowess, and most importantly for dates.
Tonight they met on a rare occasion as unbeatens, and Steve Mason just happened to be there to document the collision.

The homecoming court made it's way into the stadium tonight at halftime as the weather and the scoreboard would make this a memorable night.
Demetrius Jackson takes the handoff in the fourth quarter and does an inside outside job to gobble up 40 yards into Glass territory.
GW's Kenny Lewis will have a little trouble with this exchange from DeMar Fitzgerald and Glass recovers the ball to give the Toppers a rare positive in this one.
Glass would attempt to cut into Danville's 21-to-nothing advantage, as L.B. Cabell gives to Casey Allen who throws up the option toss.

It is our 17th season for this show
[GRAPHIC=LIBERTY/RUSTBURG]
and never during than span has a team from Liberty ever made as much noise as this year's unit is in the Seminole. Tonight Scott Abell's boys hosted unbeaten Rustburg.
(------------)
[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=51-Bedford Co./Rustburg vs. Liberty; :00]
It was a lovely homecoming night in Bedford County as the members of the court passed by the crowd.
Midway through the second quarter, Liberty has the ball trailing 7-to-nothing. But not for long. Joey Salvia punches it in from one yard out to tie things at 7-all. It was like that at halftime.
Rustburg opened the second half with Andrew Thompson nailing a 42 field field goal to put the Red Devils in front 10-to-7.
But it was all Liberty from that point on. The Devils are 8 yards away from another score when Derrick Crabtree's pass is picked off by Fletcher Miller. He will return it 92 yards for the score as big Mo takes a major swing in favor of the Minutemen as they take a 14-to-10 lead.
Late in the third, Liberty would strike again as Salvia rumbles in from 25 yards out to put the Minutemen on top 21-to-10. And now Rustburg is on the ropes.
In the fourth the Red Devils will try to regain their poise. But Crabtree and P.J. McCray can't connect as McCray is just plain crushed by Steven Brawley.
The ball is picked off on the tip as Chase Andrews picks it and seals the deal.
[SUPER=52-Rustburg/10/Liberty/28;]
Liberty beats previously unbeaten Rustburg 28-to-10 to make a statement that they are the team to beat the Seminole.

Another big battle tonight was staged in Henry County as the Tunstall Trojans made the short trek from Dry Fork to Ridgeway to take on Magna Vista.

This game featured an interiesting coaching matchup as forst year Magna Voista boss Joe Beckelheimer faced his former team and former boss Buddy Brown.
Magna Vista would come out of the blocks quickly as John Lieteau goes up the middle, and break it off to the elft side. He will take it to the house 62 yards later. It's 14-to-nothing Magna Vista after the first.
Tunstall would get back in the game as Carlton Weatherford takes the pill up the left side for a 12 yard TD run. The Magna Vista lead it cut in half 14-to-7.
Tunstall would then tie this thing up in the second as Weatherford goes up the right side this time and scores from 17 yards out. It's now 14-all at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Magna Vista special teams would come through.
The punt is blocked and Tony Redd picks it up and runs home to make it a 21-to-14 game.

Once things began - Dan River's Jason Murphy passed Leonard Brandon. He makes the catch, but then coughs up the ball on the fumble. Martinsville's Maurice Hamilton scoops it up and dashes forty yard for the touchdown. It's 7-to-nothing Dogs.
Ken Meadors would keep his cool but in the second quarter Martinsville's Rache Waller hands off to Douglas Dunbar. He scores from the 2. It's now 14-to-nothing Dogs.

[SUPER=51-Roanoke Co./Rockbridge Co. vs. Northside; :00]
The Vikings strormed onto the field tonight as a host of balloons welcome the team on this homecoming 2000 at Viking Stadium.
But Rockbridge would try to disrupt things a bit with Jonathan Wilson taking the snap out of the shotgun. He will adlib his way all over the field and all the way down to the seven after picking up 20 yards.
Two plays later, Wilson fires the short pass to Aaron Hubbard for the five yard TD. It's now 6-to-nothing Wildcats on top in a bit of a surprise.
A couple of downs later from the five, Tommy Morgan hands off to John Armstrong. He will take it around the far end, cuts in and eventually into the house as the Vikes take the 7-to-6 lead.
In the second, Northside from the Wildcats' 40 will let Morgan throw the rock down the right side to a wide open Jason Naldo. He makes the catch and get the ball down to the 2 yard line on the 38 yard completion.
From the one - Morgan pitches to Cory Keeling for another TD as he cuts

The full Hunter's Moon was shining brightly in Vinton tonight on this chilly night.
We pick it up in the third with Salem on top 10-to-nothing. From the Terriers' 35 - David Christianson drops back in the pocket and look to his left to Sean Hefner. He pulls it in and turns on the speed for the Spartan touchdown.
It's now 17-to-nothing Salem.
Later in the third, the Spartans will get the ball in good field positions again.
This time Christianson rolls to his left side and on the fly he will fire the pass to Hefner down the left side. Hefner gets another Salem score on the catch and run to make it 24-to-nothing in the third.
In the fourth, Byrd moves the ball to the Salem 21 with Jeff Highfill handing off to Marcus English. He heads to the far side, turns on the jet and he will simply outrun the coverage to make it 24-to-6.
Salem would get three more as the talented Nick Schmitt converts on the

Now it's Botetourt's turn to answer back as Anthony Ford hits Jared White on this first down play.
A few plays later, Kevin Lyle takes the pitch from Ford and he will just break the plane of the goal line to make it 28-to-13 Cavs.

Prior to tonight's game the Montgomery County school system and the town of Christiansburg dedicated the football field to Evans King - a former principal and superintendent for the County. In the first quarter Blacksburg was driving down the newly named field when quarterback Brett Smith went up top to his receiving corp. But instead he finds the Demons' secondary. Brandon Hall gets the pick to set up Mike Cole's bunch.
Four plays later, Matt Woodyard finds Justin Griffith in the endzone for the 26 yard TD completion. And surprise! Christiansburg is on top 7-to-nothing.
The Demons would continue to keep things rolling after recovering a
