Late this afternoon, officers searched the home of James William Bowers.
Roanoke police spokeswoman Shelly Alley tells us Bowers is suspected of tainting meat with antifreeze that several neighborhood dogs ate. Some dogs became sick, and one died.

Two local teenagers are charged with vandalizing a Roanoke cemetery earlier this month.

About 20 tombstones at Williams Memorial Park were marked with profanity, swastikas and the letters "S-P."
The 15 and 16-year-old boys were served today with petitions to appear in court. They both live in Northwest Roanoke.
The boys tell investigators "S-P" stood for "spyder punks," a gang name they heard in a movie.

New River Valley Habitat for Humanity and Big - Big Sisters found out this month they're broke.
N-R-C Management Services of Christiansburg handled money for them and 39 other human service groups.
It reports at least 580-thousand dollars missing.
United Way is pitching in 25-thousand dollars to keep Habitat and Big Brothers/Big Sisters going for the next two months.
But Habitat's executive director says the loss means seven families' homes may be put on hold.

The boys mother contacted police after finding a folder in her son's room labeled "operation Death Strike."
