jury selection begins for the murder trial of former NFL player Rae
Carruth, the last leg of an 11-month journey.
Some of the final words of Cherica Adams...pregnant with Carruth's
child, just moments after Adams was shot while driving through a
Charlotte suburb last November.
Te baby survived, a month later Adams died and the hunt began for Rae
Carruth.
Free on bond and ordered not to leave the Charlotte area, Authorities found Carruth in the trunk of a car in western Tennessee.

But prosecutors say the Carolina Panther was the mastermind of Adams' murder. The motive they say was to avoid paying child support.
As part of a plea deal, the state's key witness is the admitted triggerman, Van Brett Watkins. Watkins is expected to give jurors
details of the so-called murder plot all mapped out by Rae Carruth.
But in recent days, the defense has talked about a note that could changed the direction of the trial. A note from a Jailer who says
Watkins admitted to him that he shot Adams out of frustration of trying to get to Carruth after Carruth reneged on a promise to give Watkins
money for a drug deal.))

A man who's tip led police to raid the wrong house was found guilty today of lying to authorities.

On his bogus tip, authorities searched the home of William and Geneva Summers in the middle of the night.

The Summers family has retained the help of Dublin attorney Tommy Baker.
Baker says the family may file suit against the town police for not checking out the tip.

For months, state officials have been investigating PCB contamination in the Staunton River.
And now they believe they've found a possible source.

Authorities say results show that a waste storage pond at the Altavista treatment plan is seeping the cancer causing chemical into the river.
The P-C-B sediment at the plant was measured at 600 parts per million. Generally, the Environmental Protection Agency targets clean-up in areas where concentrations are above 50.
The EPA will be working with state officials to investigate the contamination further and develop a clean-up plan.

Currently the Count is hosting an old serial known as the Phantom Creep starring Bela Lugosi.
In addition to the weekly webcast, the site offers movie and book reviews as well some really bizarre links to Halloween sites.
