A Russian-built plane reportedly exploded shortly after take-off in Angola today, killing all 48 people aboard. The plane reportedly was on a domestic flight when it blew up.
No word yet on the cause.
Meanwhile, American officials are headed to Taiwan to help investigate yesterday's Singapore Airlines crash that killed at least 79 people.

The capital murder trial of the man charged with killing Radford teen Tara Munsey will begin at the end of this month.

Defendant Jeffrey Allen Thomas and his attorneys were in court yesterday.
They argued that Pulaski County investigators used inaccurate information to obtain a search warrant.
The judge ruled that the error was NOT intentional and did NOT affect the case.
Thomas was charged with Munsey's rape and murder last February, after her partially-clothed body was found in a remote section of the county.
150 prospective jurors have been selected to appear for Thomas' trial on November 30th.
Defense attorneys say they'll ask for a change of venue.

Robb's path to elective office began in Arizona, where he lived until his junior year in high school.
A storybook wedding in the White House followed as Robb married Lynda Byrd Johnson, the President's daughter.
But he says it was his service as a Marine Lieutenant in Vietnam, that most influenced his decision to seek public office.

Robb raised a family, ran for Lieutenant Governor, and then won the Governor's office in 1981.
He left Richmond as the state's most popular politician...

Roanoke beauty queen Tai Collins claimed she had an affair with Robb.
Opponents exploited allegations he attended parties at Virginia Beach where cocaine was openly used.

Still, Robb easily won election to the U-S Senate in 1988 against Maurice Dawkins. And he outlasted Oliver North in a bitter contest six years later. [STAND-UP BRIDGE]
Since he arrived on Capitol Hill, Chuck Robb has earned the reputation of a conservative on money matters, a progressive on many social issues.
But he admits he isn't always in tune with prevailing opinion.

The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team of investigators to Taiwan.
They'll help determine the cause of yesterday's Singapore Airlines crash that killed at least 79 people.

Taipei, Tawain Investigators in Taipei are combing through the wreckage of a Singapore Air 7-4-7. The Los Angles bound flight, filled with 159 passengers and 20 crew members crashed Tuesday as it sped down a darkened runway. Incredibly there were survivors.

"We saw flashes of fire and plane fell apart. Flames came in to the cabin, smoke was everywhere."
Those who escaped with their lives were treated at nearby hospitals, while those killed were taken away in body bags.
GRFX The pilot who survived the crash said he felt the plane hit something. He then slammed on the breaks to stop the take-off but the jet skidded off the runway and broke apart.
While no one has given an official cause, weather may have played a part. At the time of the accident a typhoon, packing 90 mile an hour winds was churning off Taiwan's Coast.

"I could see the cockpit and there was no visibility. It was very poor, zero. So I asked the stewardess if it was safe to take-off. And she said they had flown in worst weather in the past."

A former Montgomery County teacher's aide was sentenced to two years' probation in Radford for her intimate relationship with a teenage student.
46-year-old Wanda C. Fraser lost her job at Auburn Middle School last February.
She was charged with carnal knowledge and indecent liberties for her relationship with the 14-year old boy.
She's still awaiting sentencing on similar charges in Montgomery County.

A Danville photo store helped the Angel Tree program this Halloween.

The Melton Studio took pictures of children in their costumes, for a donation to the Salvation Army.
The price was a new toy worth at least 20 dollars.
All the toys will go to the Angel Tree program.
More than a hundred kids were scheduled to come in.

The capital murder trial of the man charged with killing Radford teen Tara Munsey is scheduled to begin November 30-th. Jeffrey Allen Thomas was charged with Munsey's rape and murder last February.
Defense attorneys say they'll ask for a change of venue.

Danville Police Chief Neal Morris says officers Samanthia (Samanth-ee-uh) Luck, Samuel Bray and Matthew Walker have been arrested and placed on administrative leave following a nine month investigation. They're accused of taking part in a pyramid scheme called "The Winners' Team".
At least ten CIVILIANS have also been arrested.

Lynchburg, Bedford County and Nelson County are joining forces to attract tourism to the area. First Lady Roxanne Gilmore presented local officials with a check for 14- thousand dollars that will help fund a regional tourism campaign.
The money will pay for a new brochure featuring area tourist attractions.
