One man is dead - another is critically injured after a high-speed chase in Roanoke- It happened early this morning- at about two.

Police say the car was going at least 80 miles an hour on Melrose Avenue when it hit a concrete median, went airborne and totaled a police car traveling in the opposite direction. Officer K.D. Assenat (ASS-en-ay) was treated and released. The driver of the car being chased was dead at the scene, his passenger suffered serious injuries.

An officer first spotted the car with expired tags near the Wyndam Hotel. When he turned on his lights and siren, the car took off on Hershberger Road.
The driver of the car, 24-year old Richard Vincent Barton of Bedford County, was dead at the scene.
His passenger, Timothy Hundley, of Southeast Roanoke is in very serious condition at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Tough work at Dulles International Airport where a man has been trapped in a caved-in tunnel for nearly 24 hours.

Workers are continuing to shore up the tunnel - since it gave way last night. It happened about seven.
The problem is the fear of more cave-ins-
Rescuers tried to reach the man three times, but were turned back by falling dirt.
Crews worked to secure the tunnel and then they will dig by hand to try and reach the man - that's the best way, they say, to prevent more cave-ins.
