It abruptly announced to workers in its 7 plants it was closing.

Bedford's D-Day Memorial is 12- thousand dollars richer today.

Officials with the Big Island Georgia Pacific plant handed over 10- thousand dollars to the D-Day Foundation.. the fourth installment of a 50- thousand dollar donation.
The memorial.. which is about two- thirds complete.. is scheduled to open next spring.
D-Day officials also accepted a check for 2-thousand- 36 dollars from the Virginia Corvette Club which raised the money during its recent fall festival.
